  1. DERRICK
    - Demonstrated strength in the verbal aspect by preparing an exit line and taking leave politely, "I think the 2nd session for the seminar is going to start already, it was pretty great talking to you."
    - Demonstrated weakness in the non-verbal aspect by having negative body language. Eg. crossing of one arm during certain parts of the conversation.

    1. Aldon did mention which enterprise he was from. If I am not wrong, its Ace enterprise.

    2. You mentioned that Aldon maintained eye contact with the person he is conversing to. However, when he was explaining about his job, he only remained constant eye contact with Derrick. In my opnion, even thought Derrick was the one who answered the question, he should also have eye contact with Cynthia because they are talking in a group, it's not a 1 to 1 conversation

  3. Derrick
    1. Derrick demonstrated strength in the verbal aspect. His tone and volume were appropriate throughout the whole conversation. He was fluent in his language and was able to keep the conversation going by posing relevant questions.
    2. A weakness identified was the introduction. Derrick failed to glance through the business cards when he received them. He could have kept the business cards instead of holding on to them during the whole conversation.

    1. Derrick did glance at the business cards when he received them. As for not keeping the business cards, the other 2 speakers were holding on to them too.

  4. Aldon
    1. Aldon demonstrated strength when he actively replied to Derrick's comments and associate it back to his own job and company. This allows him to talk more about himself and keep the conversation going.
    2. However, he stumbled at times, hesitating to think of the correct word to use in the conversation. This results in him stopping at mid sentence at times.

  5. Cynthia
    1. Cynthia demonstrated strength in the non verbal aspect, she is constantly maintaining eye contact with whoever is speaking. She also demonstrates attentive listening by nodding subtlety to show that she agrees with the ideas/problems being mention.
2.However, a weakness shown by her Is that she is always constantly answering questions and not effectively asking questions to Derrick and Aldon. She could have asked more questions to the both of them to show that she interest in the conversation.

    1. I agree that Cynthia could have asked more questions. Nevertheless, the questions she asked were relevant and well thought out (e.g the security of Derrick's product), which shows that she is interested in the conversation.

  6. Derrick
    1. Derrick demonstrated strength in the Para - Verbal aspect. He adjusted his tone accordingly when asking questions and sounded confident with an interest to know more about Cynthia and Aldon (verbal aspect).
    2. Derrick adjusted his spectacles numerous times throughout the conversation, creating a distraction for his audience.

    1. I disagree with your point stating that Derrick adjusting his spectacles would create a distraction for his audience as whenever he did the above action, neither Aldon nor Cynthia would stop listening to whoever was speaking and look at Derrick. Thus it would be an exaggeration to say derrick was causing a distraction

  7. Cynthia
    Strengths
With regards to verbal communication, Cynthia displays a positive content flow as when she asks Aldon about working from home, she also manages to talk about how she wishes to work from home, thus maintaining conversation going and also giving aldon and Derrick new topics to talk about.

    Weaknesses
Cynthia showed negative body language during the conversation as when a background sound was played, she can be seen and heard laughing softly, almost causing Aldon to laugh as well. This portrays the level of immaturity that Cynthia has as she is not being serious in the discussion

    1. I agree that it was wrong for Cynthia to show negative body language during the conversation, by laughing softly during the discussion when a background sound was played. However, she did learn from the mistake as in 07:51, when another background sound was played, she was not distracted by it and continued with the question given to her.

  9. ALDON
Strength : Aldon uses hand gestures. His hands are always at a 45 degree position with his palms facing upwards. This gesture shows that he is honest and open about what he is saying, in this case, his job scope.

Weakness : During the conversation, Aldon failed to maintain eye contact with Cynthia especially when he was explaining his job to them. He only managed to have constant eye contact with Derrick

    1. I disagree with the weakness as Aldon was just replying to Derrick's question so maybe that's why he did not maintain eye contact with Cynthia.

  10. DERRICK
Strength: He speaks confidently and his voice and pronunciations are heard very clearly, giving his audience the impression that he is very matured and experienced and at the same time, he does not sound arrogant.

Weakness: After receiving business cards from Aldon & Cynthia, he did not keep their business cards, instead, he just held it on his hands while talking to the both of them. It is more respectful to the other party to keep his or her business card in the front shirt pocket or the side pants pocket upon receiving it.

    1. i disagree on your weakness of Derrick. Everyone is holding each other's business card, not only derrick. Although it might be more respectful to keep the card in the front pocket before starting their conversation, since non of them kept their cards, it goes to show that they are very interested in the conversation such that they started their conversation without keeping them.

he demonstrated strength in non verbal aspect by listening attentively to the person that is talking, espicallyly when Cynthia ask Aldon whether he is working at home and later Derrick ask her why she asked the question. this show he was listening and paying close attention to the conversation

however he did not shake hands with Cynthia when exchanging name card. he shook hand with aldon and he should do the same with Cynthia to show respect

    1. Aldon demonstrated strength in the non-verbal aspect. He showed positive body language like nodding and smiling to other speakers during the conversation.
    2. However, a weakness shown by Aldon is that his pronunciation isn't clear. This shows that he is not really confident.

    1. I disagree on the part where you said that Aldon's pronunciation was unclear reason being that he was not confident. I can see that Aldon was very confident throughout the whole conversation with his positive body language and also smiling actively. He might not be very strong in his language which causes his pronunciations to be unclear.

    2. His pronounciation is not clear maybe because he is thinking of what to say next..that can be shown when there is a pause when he was answering a question by derrick

  13. CYNTHIA

    Strength:
Cynthia demonstrate attentive listening skill to the person speaking by nodding her head.
Cynthia also ask relevant question, for example, she asked Derrick about the security issue for the technology product, which Derrick felt that it was a great point.
    Weakness:
Derrick asked Cynthia, "Considering the fact that it is a technological product and there is no hardware to it. It is purely software. Can you give me some idea how do you actually bring this product to the market?". However, Cynthia did not attempt to respond to the question given by Derrick.

Strength : He demonstrated attentively listening to the speaker and responded appropriately to the questions asked. He also had handshakes with the other two parties where Derrick and Cynthia did not shake hands with each other at the beginning.

    4. It is true that he handshake with both of them but it wasn't initiated by him but the other party. And when derrick initiated the handshake, he made derrick awkward by not having a immediate handshake with him

  15. Aldon

    Strength
He displayed positive body language throughout the activity by actively smiling and maintaining eye contact with the person he was replying and not looking elsewhere, for example the floor or ceiling.

    Weakness
He should had shaken the hands of the participants before giving out his name card, this is to prevent the situation shown in the video. At 0:14 in the video, his priority was keeping his name card in his pocket rather than returning the handshake. This may have led to the other party feeling awkward when his hand was out.

Strength: Aldon thinks before he talks. When asked about Skype, he shares about what he thinks the disadvantages of using Skype are, which shows that he has thought about it before and analysed what problems would the users of Skype experienced.
Weakness: Although Aldon actively responds to the questions, he should have asked Cynthia and Derrick more questions to show that he is listening to the conversation and has his thoughts about it.

    1. I disagree that Aldon thinks before he talks. There are many instances where he would suddenly pause during his speech and changing or repeating words. For example, when he replied Derrick regarding the funding of the project, he answered but paused and took a while to continue his speech.

    1) Derrick demonstrated strength in the verbal aspect during his conversation. he speaks clearly with fluent English and is able to process what he is about to say without any troubles such as frequent pausing like Aldon. Also, he started the conversation by talking about the food, which help him express a friendly first impression to the others.

    2) His weakness is that during the introduction. After Aldon gave both of them his name card, he only shook hand and gave Aldon his name card, he did not do the same to Cynthia. He should do the same to show some respect to her as well.

  18. Cynthia

Strength: She listens attentively to both their conversations and made eye contacts to whoever is talking. She also speaks quite confidently during the conversation.

Weakness: Though she is attentive, she is easily distracted too. When the phone rang, she started to smile and later on smile again when derrick is speaking, which is not respectful to the person talking.

  19. Aldon

Strength- Aldon displays enthusiasm and excitement in this business conversation. He is very courageous to initiate the handshake with the strangers at the business conference. He is constantly involved in the conversation as he can be seen knodding his head to the speaker's explanations and sometimes voicing out his personal opinions at the speaker's questions. What impressed me most about him is that he is making full use of his body language by regularly gesturing at his ideas and opinions. Also, he is smartly dressed for the formal occassion. Aldon was able to speak at the appropriate volume which allows his voice to be heard by his audience.

Weakness- Gives audience the impression of lack of confidence and unable to mask the anxiety in him. For example, at the very start, Derrick offered him a handshake and upon Aldon seeing that, he could even insert the namecard into his pocket before kindly shaking back. This tend to make the atmosphere a little more awkward and make it seem Derrick is placing his hand out for nothing. There are also other moments of awkwardness when Aldon answered Derrick's question as he can be constantly seen having sudden pauses and thinking at that time. In addition, he uses a broken English language and regularly changing or repeating words. One more bad point is that he tends to interrupt people's speaking which is very rude.

Although her eyes wandered around, it may be due to her thinking of what to say next. However, she still tried to maintain some eye contact when answering.
